According to the World Bank, 37% of children in the world are forced to read and write in a language which they neither speak nor understand. What kind of challenges these children must be facing?

  5. Reading with understanding becomes a difficulty and eventually there will be hazards in learning the concepts and ideas of other subjects too. The children will therefore lose the confidence in learning.

  6. Language is Essential to learning , schooling. Instruction unfolds through language—written and spoken—in foundational learning .For any student, basic literacy and numeracy skills are key to building a quality education. If children are forces to speak and learn in a language they don't understand or speak it will be disastrous from an educational perspective. Students cannot participate if they do not understand the language of instruction , struggle to express themselves,
    can lead to emotional stress and affect their ability to learn. They can't express their thought feelings, experiences ... it will not be joyful learning

  17. if the child do not speak the language at home which he or she study it is very difficult for him to understand. Some time he frustrated and fight with other or he keep silent. Teacher have to make hi understand by signs or action but when he is comfortable with the environment he feels encouraged

  24. Children might be facing difficulty in understanding the basic concepts whereas they will learn with interest if they are given freedom to select language of their own choice. They have difficulty to communicate their basic needs. Learning outcomes also may be getting adversely affected due to force.

  27. Children don't understand the basic concept in their initial levels . It creates several learning blocks which keep on compounding with each passing year and each taught concept. This makes the learning process for the child a very painful and limiting experience leading to various psychological issues as they grow.

When we use one language strictly , we are depriving the child's fundamental right of education as he/she is unable understand and comprehend the foundational concepts taught to them thus they loose the interest to learn anything from their initial stages which are so important to build strong foundation in acquiring education and face life challenges. They loose confidence to learn anything .

I am the victim of this language barriers--- When I was completed my schooling which was completely in my mother tongue--- and enters into the collage for further studies----unable to understand--- gets head ache and did not score properly in 1st year. Frustrated and joined for tuition for ----where again of no use. This because of not exposure of many languages, with proper reading and understanding.

  43. It make very dificult to understand for childeren. If they (childeren) are not familliar with the teaching languge then it is big draw back for teacher. The teacher always makes efforts to give maximum to his students but language stand as obstacle. It is difficult to build their word building power. The imapct all these the student hate the school and the interest of learning slow down.

  48. I think children will not be able to connect with the target language to be taught. They might not get the link that has to be established. They might feel disconnected and demotivated to learn such language.

Yes, starting Children are unable to mix-up with the new language concepts and they have difficulty in communicating their needs.Sometimes they get feared and have no interest in studies to non understanding languages but a good teacher have to make the Children understand the concepts by actions, signs, joyful or teaching method............when the children comfortable with the environment they feels encouraged .....

They can't express their thought feelings, experiences .The very purpose of joyful learning is defeated.

When children are forced to read and write in a language which they neither speak nor understand then it becomes difficult for them to understand the topics that are discussed, have difficulty in understanding the concepts and this hampers their critical thinking and their creativity. After sometime, learning of the language becomes an added burden for the learners and they start losing interest in their studies. Ultimately it leads to learning gaps and then dropouts.
