following points: How often do you organise PTMs? What kind of discussions do
you generally have with parents? Have you tried to explore how best they can
help you and the school to work more effectively? Have you also tried to think
about the general concerns of the parents and what could be the solutions from
your side and/or from the school? Ponder over these questions with a creative
and problem solving mind and share your reflections.

ReplyDeleteVery often we conduct PTM's to inform the parents about the activities taking place in vidyalaya-about exams, pattern of exam and after the exam to discuss the performance of the child and what steps can be taken to further enhance their skills, about the co-curricular activities, so that they can prepare the child to participate, any new change taking place in the curriculum, sometimes to know their well being and to provide them guidance and counselling. To enhance the skills of parents in understanding the technology, we are using for online classes, so that they can be a part of child's learning, and also for their suggestions in improving upon the facilities.
ReplyDeleteA parent teacher conference helps to communicate to parents the areas their child are excelling in and to give them specific ideas of how to improve upon their child’s performance in school. Teacher parent conferences should be used as a platform to make a lasting bond with the parent to increase the likelihood of academic success for their child.
ReplyDeleteAfter each test PTMaer conducted .We communicate the parents about their wards weak and strong area in different subjects.They support and guide their children in progress.

ReplyDeletePTMs are conducted as a measure for the parents to understand and follow up the performance of their children after every formal assessment. The learning gaps of the children are briefed upon for the improvement. If in case the parents tell about the issues which their wards could not speak out in the classroom, the teacher may note and help to solve the issues.

ReplyDeleteThey should be an eye opener to both teachers and parents. Both should coordinate with each other to see that the child is benefited ultimately. The gap of learning in a child should be filled up ,which should be our ultimate goal

ReplyDeletePTM should be conducted on regular basis. Teachers should ask the parents to revise the topics taught in the class with examples at home in a friendly manner and in a stress free atmosphere at home in a play way method by showing known or familiar objects of the child, Thus the concept of FLN is strengthened and the gap of learning in school and at home is filled in a constructive manner.

ReplyDelete1. Parents gain a better understanding of their child 2. Teachers gain a better understanding of their student 3. Parents don’t develop over or under expectations 4. Parents play an active role in the child’s school activities 5. Parents can collaborate with teachers to perform home learning 6. The child understands that he/she is being monitored and feels responsible 7. The child feels supported at their school when their parents and teachers are well-connected

ReplyDeletePTM's are conducted at regular intervals in our school. The concerns of the parents are - "My child is not able to speak in English, I don't know as to what is going on in the school, What syllabus is being taught in the school, why grammar is not taught in primary classes" these queries are solved in the meeting but some parents have less trust in the capability of the teacher, they keep pointing out the mistakes. So, it is important to fill the gap between parents and teachers and to work towards a common goal of building trust partnerships.
ReplyDeletePTMs ARE REGULARLY CONDUCTED AND THE TEACHERS DEAL WITH COMMON , GENERAL AND IMPORTANT POINTS ALONG WITH SOLUTIONS FOR THE ALLROUND DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR WARDS.THEY ALSO ACCEPT THE SUGGESTIONS GIVEN BY THE PARENTS. IN SPECIAL CASES THE TEACHERS DO ONE TO ONE COUNCELLING .

Parents and teachers with students make a triangle in which all the three are important.

Generally four PTM are conducted in a session.At first general points are discussed then individual patents are treated.extra attention is given to special child.
ReplyDeletePTMs are organised at least once every month and sometimes if needed then twice also. General progress of the learners are discussed with the parents in a group. But, sometimes some specific points of some learners are discussed with the respective parents separately. Most of the time the teachers request the parents to give their full support, so that they can bring out the best in the children. Many of the parents do not have much idea about the performance of their wards and of the activities that are carried out in school and their significance in the learning process. It becomes the imperative responsibility of the teachers to clarify the doubts of the parents and put them at ease by making them aware of what all is done in the school and why and how. Some parents face problems related to finance/ transport/ home study etc, where the teachers and school can provide some guidance on how to deal with such problems.

Parents should provide better environment at home for overall development of child. PTM and regular interaction should be there between stakeholders.

ReplyDeleteGenerally our school conducts PTM before and after exams, so that parents can help the child and understand the progress as well. It is a common practice among the teachers to discuss FLN with parents during any formal or informal meetings. The parents' main concern is always related to the safety of the child in the school. They also want the teacher to pay some individual attention to their ward. Parents become happy when children say that they like to go to school.
ReplyDeleteGenerally we conduct 4 PTMs. In these meetings parents mostly asked about their Ward's performances in their exams and also share the ways to improve their children academically. We also have a session in which parents and teachers share their views and the outcomes on activities they conducted at home with their children.

PTMs were being conducted at the regular level before pendamic period.Fruitful discussion were being done .They were suggested to guide their children in proper and necessary way.

ReplyDeleteThere should be a teacher and parent meeting minimum once a month. Subjects such as student behaviour, how to engage students socially, academic performance of children, children's weaknesses, etc. can also be discussed. So that both parents and teachers together can play an important role in the all round development of the students.
ReplyDeletePAM'S are conducted 4 times in year, however they are where you are discussing the child's progress in a very categorized way. Schools can arrange for sessions with parents where parents get to experience a day in their child's life and then give them some formative assessment to do. When parents take tests themselves they will understand better both the child and the school
